Aiping Nie, Ph. D., is an associate professor at Northeast Normal University in China. Her research focus is children’s literature, with a particular interest in fantasy literature. She has conducted several research projects to explore the themes, educational implications and narrative aspects in children’s fantasy fiction. Her forthcoming book A Narrative Study of Children’s Fantasy takes a comprehensive look at the narrative elements and techniques in children’s fantasy novels in China and the United States. As a visiting scholar at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, she is working on a project about children’s books and popular culture.
