Dr. Kahyun Choi (School of Information Sciences), Maryann Naumann (Arizona State University Libraries) and Erika Immel (New Trier High School) join the CCB in a moderated panel discussion about how schools are using AI and the important considerations for youth, and the role of school libraries in supporting best practices.

Artificial Intelligence Workshop for School and Public Librarians

November 15, 2025

9 am – 12 pm Central, Room 211, 501 E. Daniel, School of Information Sciences

A hands-on workshop on generative AI, the research process, and best practices, facilitated by Professor Yun Huang (School of Information Sciences). A laptop is encouraged but not required.

Leah Gregory (Illinois Heartland Library System) and Emily Pickell (Champaign School District 4) join the CCB in a discussion about the ways Illinois school libraries have been impacted by the rise of book challenges and bans nationally. The panel will be introduced by Dr. Emily Knox, iSchool Dean.

Dr. Wayne A. Wiegand, the F. William Summers Professor of Library and Information Studies Emeritus at Florida State University, is colloquially known as the “Dean of American Library Historians”. Among many other titles, he is the author of The American Public School Library: A History and In Silence or Indifference: Racism and the Jim Crow Segregated Public School Libraries.
